This little clutch is brought to you by an unintentional fashion designer currently warehoused in Otay Mesa Detention Facility, one of the many prisons in which we incarcerate asylum seekers.

In the five months that my client has been imprisoned for daring to try to save his life, for seeking the protection of our government, he has learned a lot about solitude, silence, and learning to keep nightmares at bay by busying his hands.

Constructed of Top Ramen wrapping and credible fear worksheets (dramatic irony for the hipster crowd), now retailing for the price of one defensive asylum application.

To stand beside someone who is much braver than I could ever be even on my best day, is an opportunity one must never turn away.
